ABSD (Additional Buyer's Stamp Duty)

Housing

Additional Buyer's Stamp Duty is a tax paid on top of the standard Buyer's Stamp Duty when buying residential property. The rate depends on your residency status and how many residential properties you already own, so citizens buying a first home may pay none while those buying second or subsequent properties, PRs and foreigners pay progressively higher rates. It is a cooling measure meant to moderate demand. Married couples may claim a refund in some situations, such as selling a first home within a set period after buying a second. ABSD rates and remission rules are subject to the latest rules.
