Education

The Primary School Leaving Examination is a national exam taken at the end of Primary 6, usually around age 12. It assesses English, Mother Tongue, Mathematics and Science, and marks the end of primary education. Results are reported using Achievement Levels for each subject, which are added into a total score used for posting to secondary school. This score, together with school choices and later subject banding, helps place students into secondary schools and subject levels. It is a milestone many families plan around. Format, scoring bands and posting rules are subject to the latest rules.
