Landlord not returning my rental deposit, what can I do?

Went through almost the same thing. First, keep everything in writing, WhatsApp and email are fine as evidence. Send a firm but polite written demand stating the amount, the move-out date, and a deadline (say 7 days) to return it. Ask them to itemise any deductions with receipts/quotes, vague 'wear and tear' is not enough, normal wear is not deductible. If they still stall, you can file at the Small Claims Tribunals (SCT) for tenancy disputes, it's cheap and you don't need a lawyer. Bring your tenancy agreement, handover photos, and the deposit proof. Move-in/move-out photos save you here. Please verify the current SCT claim limits and filing fees on the official State Courts website, the thresholds do change.
