National Service

After completing full-time National Service, servicemen enter the operationally ready phase and can be recalled for In-Camp Training, commonly called reservist. These are periodic training cycles, over a number of years, that keep skills current and units ready. Employers are legally required to release NSmen for these duties, and men receive make-up pay so their income is not reduced during the period. NSmen are also subject to call-ups for operations and must keep their contact and travel details updated. The number of cycles, duration and pay arrangements are subject to the latest rules.
