Notice Period

Employment

The notice period is the advance warning either you or your employer must give before ending employment. The length is usually stated in your employment contract and often increases with your length of service. If your contract is silent, the law sets default notice periods based on how long you have worked. Either side can also pay salary in lieu of notice to end the contract earlier. During notice you generally continue working and earning as normal, and cannot take it as leave without approval. Exact durations and default rules are subject to the latest rules.
